If you find that you struggle with a lot or even most of the topics, try to not get scared by this! Rather, make a list where you prioritize each topic by need this could be based on their length (maybe you want to start with the shorter ones!), their complexity, or maybe on which you have upcoming tests.Ĭreating a structured plan for how to approach revision can work wonders for your morale, and make everything seem a little less frightening. While doing this it could be useful to create a clear hierarchy for yourself – for example, you could go through the syllabus and mark the topics you need to practice urgently with a red marker, and the ones you can save for later with a green one. Using your experience from the classroom, tests, and mock exams, take some time to reflect over which parts of the syllabus you really struggle with, and which you find more comfortable. Having become familiar with the syllabus, you can start to plan for how to use your time effectively. IDENTIFY YOUR OWN STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES You will also notice connections between topics you may not have seen before – for example, you might spot that concepts from circular motion in topic 6 are ubiquitous to simple harmonic motion as described in topic 9.Ģ. Hence, if you know your syllabus well, you can be confident that you know what will meet you when you open the exam paper!
That’s right, IB physics exams tend to be structured very closely to the syllabus, such that the first questions are from topic 1 and 2, and the rest go through the remaining topics more or less chronologically.
